Visual Aid

All members of of our society are affected by AIDS as a result of the untimely silencing of so many creative voices in the arts. Visual Aid is a response by San Francisco's art community to the AIDS epidemic. We are a nonprofit organization of artists, illustrators, art dealers and art supporters. Our primary goal is to financially assist artists with life-threatening illness, so that they can continue their work. Our funds are not of the magnitude to handle individual medical expenses, however, they can defray the costs of studio rental, artists' materials and services.

The organizers of Visual Aid are aware of the financially devastating effects that this crisis is having on artists, the majority of whom are self-employed and uninsured. The challenge of HIV-disease has caused many artists to turn to their work with a sense of urgency and inspiration. The possibility that a shortage of funds would impede an artist's work at such a time of personal crisis is unacceptable. We want to help. To do this we need your support, your time and your money.

Visual Aid is committed to maximizing your contribution by keeping administrative costs to a minimum through an active group of volunteers.
